My opponent "Barbara Graff" calls herself "The People's Commissioner", so why is she trying to mislead the people about her voting record on taxes? In the Odessa American (09/08/2008), she explained that she voted for the largest budget in the History of Ector County and the largest tax burden the citizens of Precinct 3 have ever seen because the State of Texas requires counties to maintain a 90 day reserve.
Let's show some real facts:
FACT: The State does not mandate any reserve amount and she knows this. Otherwise, the county would have been in violation in each of the past seven years with reserve amounts less than 90 days each time.
If our Commissioner is going to grow County Government at an excessive rate and stick the voters with huge tax bills, she should explain why and not try to mislead us.
As your Commissioner, I will prioritize government spending and work to reduce the overall size and cost of government in Ector County. I will also consider the effects of our tax rate on the people I represent. Most importantly, I will be honest about my voting record and not try to mislead people about what I have done."motto quoted by Henry David Thoreau"
